I hadn’t heard this quote before, but I hope you will appreciate it as much as do:
Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task – William James
It’s hard to get starting on some of our bigger projects, whether it is our income tax preparation, getting new health routine habits, or a big work project. The good news is, if you frame your mind to think “How soon can I start” and commit to doing a single 30-minute period of focused work, your big/overwhelming project becomes suddenly a series of small, manageable steps. After your thirty minutes, you can get to those distracting little chores that popped into your head as you were doing your 30 minutes of focused work. It will seem like a bit of a reward.
